"Chris Lay TREMONT--Chris Lay, 76, retired Tremont farmer, died at 10 a.m. Friday at the Hopedale Hospital following an illness of a month. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. at the Tremont Baptist Church. The Rev. William Steinkrauf, former Tremont minister, now of Bloomington and the Rev. Marvin Kemp of Tremont will officiate. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Saturday at the residence. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
He was born 29 Mar 1879, at Wurttemberg Germany, the son of Fred and Barbara Waldbesser Lay. He married Rosa Schnellbecker April 12, 1904, in Bloomington.
He is survived by his wife and four sons, Henry, Haviland, Ohio; Fred, Deer Creek; John, Tremont; Carl, Donelson, Iowa.

"Jean was baptized on April 14, 1645, in Holland.

He was married (firstly) on September 9, 1668, in New York City, New York County, New York, to Jacomina De Ruine.

He was married (secondly) on March 23, 1692, at the French Church at Kinderkamack, Bergen County, New Jersey, to Marretje Van Winckell (born circa 1643), the daughter of Jacob Wallings Van Winckell and Trientje Jacobs. Marretje had previously been married to Peter Jansen Slot.

He was married (thirdly) on December 20, 1702, at Hackensack, Bergen County, New Jersey, to Magdalena Laurens. She was previously married to Jean Tullier.

Jean was elected a Constable of Harlem, and in 1683 he was commissioned a Militia Lieutenant for Bergen County, New Jersey. He inherited his father's home."--Find-a-grave

"Henry Myers was born in Middlebrook, Augusta County, Virginia on May 1, 1855, and departed this life at Springview, Nebraska on Wednesday, June 18, 1935, at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 19 days. He grew to manhood and secured his education in the public school at Middlebrook. He started west, first living in Illinois, then coming to Henry County, Iowa where he was united in marriage to Lille Belle Chrisinger on November 23, 1881. To this union one son, Arval, was born.

He came with his family to Keya Paha County, Nebraska in the year 1885, and settled on a homestead 16 miles northwest of Springview. His wife died on May 2, 1887. He was later united in marriage to Marietta D. Carpenter on June 20, 1888. To this union ten children were born. Two, Ethel May and Arnold, died in infancy. The family moved to College Springs, Iowa in 1893 where he worked at the carpenter trade for several years. Later he moved to Tarkio, Missouri where he worked in a plow factory for several years.

He came back to Keya Paha County in 1908 and lived on a tree claim 14 miles northwest of Springview where he lived until 1925 when he moved to Springview and where, on September 28, 1933, his wife died. He remained in his home in Springview with his youngest daughter, Mrs. John Akers, up until his death.

He was converted in early life and first united with the Presbyterian Church, later transferring to the Methodist Church of which church he remained a faithful member. He has been a faithful follower of Christ from early manhood and remained a faithful Christian always willing to do his part in any church work and died in the triumphs of the Christian faith.

He leaves to mourn his death six daughters and three sons as follows: Arval L. Myers of Grants Pass, Oregon; Julia L. Carlson of Bassett, Nebraska; Ileff E. Myers, Villah I. Myers and Mrs. Alta Wakefield all of Aladdin, Wyoming; Mrs. Zada A. Hoyt of Naper, Nebraska, Mrs. Rena Mock of Mission, South Dakota; Mrs. Freda Howell and Mrs. Leah Akers of Springview, Nebraska; also three brothers, John Myers of Springview, Nebraska; Wilford Myers of Cleveland, Ohio, and Charlie Myers of Winner, South Dakota besides twenty-two grandchildren and one great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral was held from the M.E. Church in Springview, conducted by Rev. O.E. Richardson of Bassett and interment was made in the Enterprise Cemetery. "--Find-a-grave

"Mae M. Strait. Mae M. Strait, 76, of 408 N. Broad, Rossburg, died in Wayne Hospital, Greenville, Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. She had been a patient there three days.
Born Sept. 18, 1897, in Darke County, she was a daughter of Philip and Laura Sharp Hartzell. She was marrried in 1921 to Byford Strait who preceeded her in death.
Surviving her are a daughter, Mrs. Marion Lenker (Mary), Rossburg; a son, Gerald Strait, Rossburg; three grandchildren, six great grandchaildren, six great grandchildrene, and four step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Miller-Hill Funeral Home, Versailles. Burial will be in Beamsville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday until services."--11 Oct 1973, The Piqua (OH) Daily Call
