"Mr. and Mrs. A. Gilbert Leibrick, of Ocean Gate, N.J., and formerly of 55th st. and Angora Terrace, announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Charlotte Marie Leibrick, to Mr. Donald Simson, of Lakewood, N.J., which took place yesterday in the rectory of St. Mary's-by-the-Sea, Lakewood. "CHARLOTTE MARIE LEIBRICK SIMSEN, 75, a life-long resident of OCEAN GATE, passed away Wednesday, July 18, at home. Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Simsen was retired from the Ocean County Health Department, where she specialized in grant-writing and public relations. The free-lance writer and author published her first novel, Gypsy Serenade, in 2006, a story drawn from her fascination with Bram Stoker and the Dracula legend. Her master's degree thesis on Stoker's gothic novel drew her to Romania and across Europe for research and inspiration. After retiring from the Health Department, Mrs. Simsen built a log cabin in Louisa, Va., and owned a home in Rosarito, Mexico, before settling back in Ocean Gate. She was director of the monthly Book Club at the Berkeley Branch of the Ocean County Library. She was a graduate of Toms River High School, Monmouth University and Fairleigh-Dickinson University.
Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Sandy Leibrick of Ocean Gate; two sisters, Sara Lou Then of Fortuna, Calif., and Thelma and brother-in-law Fritz Lovinfosse of Pine Beach; four sons, Donald Simsen of Knoxville, Tenn., John and daughter-in-law Adriana Simsen of Texas City, Texas, Michael and daughter-in-law Ellen Simsen of Ocean Gate, and Thomas and daughter-in-law Yumiko Simsen of Stirling,, and three daughters, Marguerite Wieland and Kathy Simsen, both of Ocean Gate, and Mary and son-in-law Bill Paluk of Pine Beach. She is also survived by her cousins, Dennis and Chris Bourke of Ocean Gate, Ann Bourke of Wildwood, Pete MacDonald of Homosassa, Fla., Paul MacDonald of Lacey, Gil MacDonald of El Paso, Texas, and Rea and Reggie Savoy of Ocean Gate; numerous other relatives and friends and 11 grandchildren.
A memorial gathering and service will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Monthly Book Club at the Berkeley Branch of the Ocean County Library, Bayville. Cremation will be private."--20 Jul 2007, Asbury Park (NJ) Press

"Parkway Mishap Injures Driver WALL TOWNSHIP--John B. Leibrich, 149 Long Branch Ave., Ocean Gate, was reported in fair condition today at Fitkin Hospital, Neptune, after a one-car accident here on the Garden State Parkway.
State police said Mr. Leibrick's compact convertible ran off the northbound lane of the parkway about 7:30 p.m. yesterday and rolled end over end on the Garden State Parkway.
Mr. Liebrick, thrown clear of the car, was taken to Fitkin Hospital by the First Aid Squad. He was admitted with face and head cuts and a possible concusion."--11 Aug 1966, Asbury Park (NJ) Press
"Examiner Says Death A Suicide LAKEWOOD--Dr. George D. Trustan, Ocean County medical examiner, has ruled a suicide the death Saturday of John B. Leibrick, 34, of 1331 Eisenhower St.
Mr. Leibrick was found hanging in the attic of his home by his wife, Loretta, when she returned from a shopping trip. She cut her husband down, and her screams for help brought a neighbor, N.G. Dickenson, who called police. Dr. Trustan pronounced Leibrick dead at the scene.
Police said Mr. Leibrick had been depressed because he had been unable to obtain a steady job. He had started working for Wheaton Plastics, here, the same day he hanged himself.
Mr. Leibrick was born in Philadelphia, and moved here seven months ago from Ocean Gate. He was a member of the Ocean Gate Methodist Church and the Ocean Gate Athletic Club.
Surviving besides his widow and a daughter, Virginia Frances, at home; two brothers, A. Gilbert Leibrick and David J. Leibrick, both Ocean Gate; and five sisters, Mrs. Robert Then, Santa Ana, Calif., Mrs. Charles Aiken, Modesto, Calif., Mrs. donald Simsen and Miss Linda Leibrick, both Ocean Gate and Mrs. Thelma Lovinfosse, Pine Beach.

"Man Escapes Injury When Car Hits Tree TOMS RIVER--A.G. Leibrick, 149 Long Branch Ave., Ocean Gate, escaped injury today when his car hit a tree on Main street near Seward avenue, Dover Township police said.
